Grendon and Billesley Nursery & Family Centre

This site is based at on Grendon Road in Warstock, Birmingham. It opened in June 2004 as a Neighbourhood Nursery designed to provide affordable, high quality day care for families.

It is 97-place setting for children aged 0 –12 years.

The setting offers 7.30am-6.30pm, Monday – Friday, all year round provision. In addition, we offer a before- and after-school for children from the neighbouring Grendon Primary School.

Funded sessions are available for 9 months-5 year olds. We offer a range of sessions, including a stretched funding offer which is over 48-weeks or 51 weeks of the year depending on the funding you receive.

Funding session are between 15-30 hours for those children ages 9 months-5 years old. Please contact us for our funding booklet for more information.

The nursery has 5 main rooms which are spilt into different age groups from our little ones at 6 weeks to our children preparing to take their next steps in their learning adventure at School.

Our approach for learning is to create for our children an environment that inspires, is exciting and will engage them in their own learning each and every day. Our environment is filled with authentic and real life objects and those from the natural world. Children are given the opportunity to explore and use their imagination to take their play and learning where ever they wish it to go.

The centre benefits from a sensory room, large outdoor space including tree house and tree area which is fantastic for den building and exploring nature as well as its own planting area.

Manager’s Statement

Hi my name is Lucy Welch and I am the Nursery Manager at Grendon and Billesley Nursery and Family centre. I have been with the company for over 17 years. For as long as I can remember I have wanted to work with children, I don’t ever remember wanting to be or do anything else within my career. Upon leaving school, starting college and entering the Nursery setting on my first placement I knew childcare was for me and I had found my biggest passion. I loved seeing the children smile and laugh whilst leaning through play. I enjoyed seeing them playing happily because of an ‘adventure’ we were going on.

Joining Grendon & Billesley nursery as a practitioner made me realise even more how much I loved my job and what I do, I quickly became a senior practitioner and then progressed to Deputy Manager which enabled me have an input on how the setting was run and help make changes for the better for the practitioners, families and children.

Upon becoming manager I have lots of enthusiasm to continue to aid Grendon & Billesley Nursey to grow and improve upon the already amazing setting that it is today in order to be the best that we can be. I have a good team around me and together will do our upmost to ensure the children have the best time with us and that all the families that walk through our door are loved, valued and supported.
